The Plot

Once upon a time in the magical land of Earth-land, there was a young Dragon Slayer wizard named Natsu Dragneel. He was on a mission to find his adoptive father, the dragon Igneel, who had gone missing.

Along the way, Natsu met a celestial wizard named Lucy Heartfilia and invited her to join his guild, Fairy Tail. Lucy was hesitant at first, but Natsu was persistent, and she eventually agreed to join.

Natsu, Lucy, and their cat-like friend Happy formed a team and set out on various missions together. They fought criminals, dark guilds, and even ancient demons created by a wizard named Zeref, who was cursed with immortality and deadly power.

But things really started to heat up when they found Zeref living in isolation on Fairy Tail’s sacred ground of Sirius Island. Zeref expressed a desire to die for his past atrocities, and a battle ensued between Fairy Tail and the dark guild Grimoire Heart.

Just when things seemed to be going well for our heroes, the evil black dragon Acnologia showed up and decided to crash the party. Luckily, the spirit of the guild’s founder, Mavis Vermillion, cast a defensive spell that put the entire guild into suspended animation for seven years.

When they woke up, things were not looking good. A dark guild of Etherious called Tartaros was trying to unseal a book that contained Zeref’s ultimate demon, E.N.D. And just when they thought things couldn’t get any worse, Acnologia returned to annihilate both guilds.

But wait, there’s more! Igneel, who had been sealed within Natsu this whole time, emerged to battle Acnologia, but was tragically killed in front of Natsu. Natsu then went on a training journey to avenge his father-figure, because what else are you supposed to do when your adoptive dragon father dies?

Fast forward one year, and Fiore is being invaded by the Alvarez Empire, ruled by none other than Zeref himself. Natsu finds out that he is actually Zeref’s younger brother and the true incarnation of E.N.D. (Etherious Natsu Dragneel). Talk about a family reunion gone wrong!

After defeating Zeref, Mavis lifts her and Zeref’s curse by reciprocating his love, which kills them both. Meanwhile, Acnologia is trapped in a space-time rift created by Zeref’s time travel gate. But don’t worry, Lucy and her wizard friends immobilize Acnologia’s body within Fairy Sphere, and Natsu destroys his spirit, killing him and freeing all of the present Dragon Slayers.

And so, Natsu and his team depart on a century-old guild mission, continuing their adventures together. Who knows what kind of trouble they’ll get into next? One thing’s for sure, with Natsu’s determination and Lucy’s brains, they’ll always find a way to save the day.

The Creative Process of Hiro Mashima: A Journey to Fun and Adventure

Hiro Mashima, the creator of the hit manga series Fairy Tail, had a vision for his next project. He wanted to tell a story that was exciting, upbeat, and filled with adventure. After finishing his previous work, Rave Master, he felt that he needed to create something that was the complete opposite – a story that was sentimental and sad. And so, Fairy Tail was born.

Mashima drew inspiration from his own life experiences. He would sit in bars and party with his friends, and that was where the idea for the series began to take shape. He wanted to create a story about young people finding their calling, about discovering their purpose in life. And so, he created the character of Natsu, a fire-using member of a courier guild who carries various things on assignments.

Mashima’s vision for the series evolved over time. He initially drew a one-shot titled Fairy Tale, which was published in Magazine Fresh on September 3, 2002. This served as a pilot for the series, and Mashima’s later concept involved having different types of wizards hanging out in one place. Eventually, he convinced his editor to allow him to change the concept to a wizard guild, and the title was changed from “Tale” to “Tail” in reference to the tail of a fairy.

Creating a successful manga series is no easy feat. For Mashima, it was a journey filled with challenges and obstacles. All but one of his assistants left between Rave Master and Fairy Tail, and he had to ensure that the three new ones knew what to do. The first year of serialization was the hardest, as he had to adjust to working with new team members.

Despite the difficulties, Mashima was dedicated to his craft. He worked tirelessly, creating new chapters while still working on the current ones. He had a schedule that he followed every week, with script and storyboards written on Monday, rough sketches the following day, and drawing and inking done Wednesday through Friday. His weekends were spent working on Monster Hunter Orage, a monthly series he was writing at the same time.

Mashima poured his heart and soul into the characters of Fairy Tail, drawing on people he had known in his life for inspiration. He based the father-son relationship between Natsu and Igneel on his own experiences with the loss of his father as a child. He took Natsu’s motion sickness from one of his friends, and he named the character Natsu because he believed western fantasy names would be unfamiliar to Japanese audiences.

In conclusion, the creative process of Hiro Mashima is a testament to the power of dedication, hard work, and passion. His journey to create Fairy Tail was filled with challenges, but he persevered, drawing inspiration from his own life experiences and pouring his heart and soul into his work. Mashima’s dedication and love for his craft are evident in every panel of Fairy Tail, and it is a testament to his skill as a writer and artist.

"Fairy Tail" Takes the Manga and Anime World by Storm: A Phenomenon Worth Experiencing!

The world of manga and anime has been forever changed since the inception of “Fairy Tail”. With a staggering 72 million collected volumes in circulation as of February 2020, the series has captured the hearts of fans worldwide.

In France alone, the manga has sold over 7.7 million copies, and it has consistently ranked among the best-selling manga series in Japan for years. Its numerous accolades, including the 2009 Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen manga, Best Manga Series of 2008 at the 2009 Anime & Manga Grand Prix held by French magazine AnimeLand, and Best Comedy Manga at the 2009 Industry Awards for the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation, prove that “Fairy Tail” is a true masterpiece.

But what makes “Fairy Tail” so special? Is it the standard shōnen action manga tropes, the mix of goofy humor, face-crushing action, and teary-eyed sap that is so calculated as to be mechanical? Or perhaps it’s the fact that creator Hiro Mashima takes the most standard, predictable aspects of the genre and somehow still weaves it into a fun, fist-pumping adventure, as suggested by reviewer Carlo Santos.

The art in the early arcs of “Fairy Tail” may not be its best, but the stories arguably are, and the manga has strong female characters such as Lucy and Erza, as praised by Rebecca Silverman of Anime News Network.

But “Fairy Tail” is not just a manga; it has also taken the anime world by storm. The anime series won the “Meilleur Anime Japonais” (best Japanese anime) award and the best French dubbing award at the 19th Anime & Manga Grand Prix in Paris, and it won Animax Asia’s “Anime of the Year” award in 2010.

Critics and viewers alike have praised the anime’s visuals, characters, and English voice acting, as well as its comedic approach. However, the anime’s background music and CGI animation have been criticized by some, including Carlo Santos.

Despite its flaws, “Fairy Tail” remains a phenomenon worth experiencing. Its formulaic pattern, unexpected twists and turns, and unpredictable outcomes keep fans coming back for more. “Fairy Tail” is not just a manga or anime; it’s a world filled with magic, adventure, and unforgettable characters. So if you haven’t experienced it yet, what are you waiting for? Join the “Fairy Tail” guild today and embark on a journey you’ll never forget!
